Artur Arnaldo Amaral peacefully passed away in his 92nd year. He was one of the first early Portuguese settlers who immigrated to Canada from Sao Miguel Açores, Portugal, in April 1954.

Artur was a very humble man who was cherished and loved by all. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends, especially creating memories in his well kept backyard oasis. Every year, on his birthday, he looked forward to gathering his immediate family and putting his BBQ skills to work. The grandchildren have fond memories of chasing bunnies around on his perfectly manicured lawn. On the first day of each year, Artur’s family always looked forward to starting off the new year in his home, enjoying traditional Portuguese dishes, cooked by him and his loving wife. Artur was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching and listening to all sports, but there was no bigger Toronto Maple Leafs fan than him. He will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation.

To Maria and family...
There are no words to express the loss of our gentle neighbor and friend. Arthur was always so kind and giving. Neighbors for 28 years and only wonderful memories. Arthur's grass was always the most lush and beautiful lawn in our neighborhood. He took so much pride in his gardening and home. We will miss him dearly and cherish the time we had.
Maria , Mary and family we are thinking of all of you and here if you need anything.

Vavo, I have such fond memories of spending time with you as a child and throughout my life. I remember all the times we spent at your house as children, going for walks to the park, feeding the ducks , and listening to your stories. I also remember fun family picnics and fishing. You were a loving man with a contagious smile. I love you and will miss you dearly. May your soul rest peacefully in the kingdom of Heaven.
