In Celebration of

Antoni Morawski

November 29, 1919 -  June 12, 2022

Passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the age of 102. Beloved husband of Janina for 76 years. Loving father of Roman (Patricia Serveau) and Barbara Springer (John). Cherished Grandfather of Tanya (William Stratton) and Adam (Olivia Lee). Lively and spirited great-grandfather to Ramona and Thomas. Antoni and Janina came to Canada in 1949 with little more than determination, faith and their love for one another. They went on to build an extraordinary community and wonderful life together. Antoni was a meticulous tailor, a proud gardener, a man of great faith and even greater humour. Even in his final years, he remained an engaging and animated storyteller. After family meals - to the delight of those around the table - he would recount fantastical memories of his childhood in pre-war Poland. Antoni’s family will miss him dearly. They will strive to keep his memory alive by emulating his positive nature, his good humour, and his incredible zest for life.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, 12 Denison Avenue, on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery.

Tony was a truly extraordinary person. He brought a smile to everyone’s face. He loved his family and they loved him. I will always remember him at his 100th birthday party. He was so happy and enjoyed the celebration. He will be missed but leaves behind so many loving memories.

I met Mr. Antoni Morawski in May of 1962 when our family came to Canada and in approximately October of that year we moved in next door to Mr. and Mrs. Morawski where we lived for many years.
I was 11 yrs old but he impressed me in so many ways where to this day memories remain. He was a gentle man, who loved telling stories, actually his life experiences and what he went through in hard times during the war. His experiences to me were mesmerizing where I could not take my mind of them not even for a moment.
Roman Morawski his son and I grew up together and I recall the good times I had. He was a great tailor, bring it here and I will fix it he said, he made clothing here and there and they had to be perfect.
He enjoyed having an occasional drink with my father and once I was of legal age to drink (of course legal, ha ha) we would enjoy one or two. I have always kept in contact with Morawski family even when they moved to Smithwood Dr. On many occasions I dropped in unannounced and I was always welcomed with open arms. Very hospitable he was, always he would offer a beer or two or a shot of vodka which I never refused. If I knocked on the front door and there was no answer, he was in is backyard looking after his garden, tomatoes, cucumbers etc.
He loved fishing, he had 1960 Pontiac where he would take Roman and I to the credit river in Mississauga at QEW and we would fish and he was advising us how to be successful.
He loved his social life, dances at church, attended regularly to Sunday prayers and any functions after the service.
He loved music, he encouraged Roman to play accordion and I must say Roman turned out to be a very successful musician, he loved listening to Roman play the accordion, and would sit there listening and singing.
Antoni had a strong and great voice as he has shown even at his 100th birthday party where he sang and had amazed many friend and family that he could still do it, his voice was stronger then anyone at the party, I was there and must say I enjoyed as always his singing and his humor.
I will miss you my dear friend, but I will always have fond memories that will always remain with me.

Rest in Peace
