In Celebration of

Anne Saunders

October 10, 1933 - May 3, 2025

To our dear mother,

Mom you will be sadly missed and forever and lovingly remembered by your four children Paul, (Helen) Alan (Gloria), John (Denise) and Lisa (Domenic) , including the grandchildren, Adam, Nick (Michelle), Matthew, Amanda (Andrew), Colin, (fiancé Megan) Brett, (Jess) Marlee and great grandchildren Zephyr, Noa and Rosie.

Mom, you meant the world to us and your passing has left us with great sorrow. We will remember all the wonderful and fun family times, the love you had for us all, the wonderful dark British humour you instilled in us and most especially the importance of us children staying close and being one another's friends and support in hard times and also good times. The house we all grew up in holds such fond memories, including celebrations, pool parties and bbqs in the backyard. We are forever grateful for the childhood we had in our home in Etobicoke that you and dad lived in together for over 60 years. Mom, you were one of a kind, there will never be anyone else like you - funny, witty, with a very sharp British way of speaking your mind. You lived your life exactly the way you wanted to - but always made space in your heart for all of us. You were "unapologetically" you and lived your true authentic life on your own terms.

Your love of books is reflected in the hundreds of books still in the house with books left unread. Your last wish was to read Charles Dickens - David Copperfield only 4 short days before you passed. Your love of reading brought you great joy and also sent us all into book stores and thrift shops searching for your favourites and bringing them home for you to read. You loved to stack your books and carefully restacked them to be donated back. The car is still full of two large bags filled with books to donate! Your legacy will live on with your love of books and learning about new places and autobiographies.

Mom, we made sure that you were never without flowers, chocolate, cake and books. Your favourite kind of day included all these things. Most especially, we knew we were loved as you were forever sharing your gratitude towards your kids and telling us how much you loved us. We will hold these memories dear and honour your memory by continuing to love one another and be forever grateful for the wonderful family you raised.

You lived a life well lived mom and we will never forget you.

We would like to give gratitude and thanks for the incredible team that supported our mother the last two and a half years with The March of Dimes. Their dedication, love and support was unmatched and we are incredibly grateful for the care they provided our mother and also their friendship.

We owe a debt of gratitude to The Dorothy Ley Hospice Toronto, under the care of Dr. Julie Napolskikh. Dr. Napolskikh and her team provided the care, support and guidance we needed to allow our mother to live her best life up until her final days.

We are eternally grateful. We ask in lieu of flowers that we honor our mother by spreading love and friendship in the name of chocolates, books or flowers to your loved ones and friends in mom’s memory!
