In Celebration of

Anne Hales

March 13, 1938 -  April 28, 2025

Peacefully at Ian Anderson House, Oakville, on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the age of 87.

Beloved wife of the late Paul. Devoted mother to Michael (Michele) and Matthew (Sherri). Much loved Grandma to Douglas (Lisa) and Mark (Dunya). Cherished Great Grandma to Owen. Anne is survived by her Dear Brother Edward.

Anne was born in Toronto after her Parents immigrated from Stara Lubovna in 1927. When she started school her parents changed her age so that she could attend with her good friend Irena who lived close. In school she loved gymnastics and later won an award for her speedy typing and shorthand skills. She married at the early age of 17 and after having her first son Michael moved to Sigmont Road in Etobicoke. Anne and Paul loved to vacation and enjoyed hosting many friends for pool parties and bbq’s over the years. During her decade as the parish secretary at Nativity of Our Lord she made many friends in the clergy which lead to her joining the spiritual retreat team at the Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre in 1985. She continued with her ministry for an impressive forty years where she met many, many friends. Anne enjoyed watching the blue jays with Paul and loved visiting with family and her greatest joy was her great grandson Owen which always brought a smile.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

A beautiful light in the world hasn't been extinguished but has gone to join a greater light.
I was fortunate to have met Anne several times through attending retreats years ago. I didn't know her well, but the few times we met and the retreats she led, made an impression on me.
Sending prayers to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.

I will miss Aunt Anne a lot. After my own mother she was the next best thing. I helped her out at Queen of Apostles with creating newsletters for them and would bring my kids when they were young. She would always have some little treat to give them. She loved our visits and made us feel special. I also lived with her and Paul for a few months in between houses. She called me every now and then to check up on me and made me feel cared for. The world is a worse place without her in it.

We volunteered at Queen of Apostles in the Engaged Encounter program for 10 years. We got to know Ann well. Ann’s warmth, her kindness and quiet confidence was the driving force behind the programs and the pastoral team there. Seeing her face was like “coming home “. Please accept our deepest condolences. May the warmth of your memories with Ann sustain you in these difficult times. Mike and Ivana Genua
