In Celebration of

Andrzej "Andrew" Gal

November 16, 1935 -  July 20, 2020

Andrzej Gal was called to eternal rest on July 20th, 2020. “Tata” died peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters Wanda, Janine, Teresa, esteemed son-in-law Ozgur & his caregiver Janet. Andrzej was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years Janina Gal.
Loving Father of Wanda, Barbara(Robert), Janine(Ozgur) & Teresa(Arash) & cherished “Dziadziu” to grandchildren Anne(Nick), Adam, Andrew & Luke.
Andrzej lived a wonderful life filled with heartfelt memories & strong devotion to his faith, family & friends. Andy was born in Odrowąż, Poland to a large family of 9 children, that endured hardships & struggles during World War II, living through invasions & being taken to Siberia with his family & later repatriated back to Poland & Orphaned at a young age. As a young man, Andy was sponsored by his eldest brother John, to come to Canada. As Andy approached the docks to embark on a new chapter of his life on the famous “Stefan Batory Ship“ a young lady caught his eye & captured his heart forevermore, our dearest “Mama”. Andrzej was a multi-skilled, talented, hard working individual who came to Canada with nothing more than a suitcase in hand, ambition & the dream of building a life which he did successfully. Andy worked for CP Rail for over 28 years & generously assisted countless relatives & friends whenever anything was needed. Andrzej will be missed & fondly remembered by family, friends & neighbours around the world. Thank you to the Fathers of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate as well as to family & friends for their prayers, support & home visits. The family is grateful & ever appreciative for the loving caregivers who blessed Andrzej’s daily life for the last five years coordinated by his doting daughter Janine who ensured “Tata” had all the comforts possible to remain in his home as was his wish. Family and friends may attend a viewing by appointment at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, on July 23, 2020.
