It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Andrew Macko at the Ukrainian Care Centre on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Sonia. Loving father of Andre (Oksana) and Anne-Marie Kaminskyj (Boris). Proud Dido of Adrienne, Tanya, Sofia, Andre and proud Pradido of Natalie. Much loved brother of Maria and the late Anna in France and his extended family and friends in France, Ukraine and Canada. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. Panachyda 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 La Rose Ave., Toronto, on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, Oakville. If desired, remembrances may be made to the Ukrainian Care Centre.

The Board and members of the Ukrainian Canadian Research and Documentation Centre would like to express their sincere condolences on the passing of Andrew Macko, a long time supporter and benefactor of the UCRDC. Mr. Macko was a frequent visitor to our Centre and donated a substantial body of materials and books to the UCRDC archives, particularly those pertaining to the Ukrainian community in France. An interview with Mr. Macko recorded in 2010 is stored in the UCRDC Oral History Archive. This recording will serve as a valuable and fitting tribute to the memory of Mr. Andrew Macko.
