In Celebration of

Andrew Ilkiw

January 11, 1955 -  September 6, 2016

Andrew Ilkiw was born in Toronto in January 11, 1955. He was the son of John & Maria Ilkiw (nee Lopata) who came to Canada in 1948 from Czechoslovakia. On completing high school he went to school to become a freight transport truck driver. He loved music, played the drums and the guitar and enjoyed going to concerts. He spent over 40 years driving, making long haul trips to many of the States in the USA. Andrew was an honest, hardworking individual and a good son to his parents, especially his mother whom he took care of diligently up until her death at 91 years of age. Everyone who knew him, called him Andy and will remember him fondly as he was a great friend. Andy lived a private and modest life. In the last few years, he became much more talkative and could discuss any topic whether it be sports or world affairs. On Tuesday, September 6, he joined his parents and will be sorely missed by family and friends who know and loved him. May he rest in peace.

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that we learned about Andy. I will miss our early morning chats when you were on your route and delivering flowers at 7am. It was great to talk about music and all those rock and roll legends from the past. Will miss that.
Rest in Peace Andy.

We were deeply touched to learn that Andrew is no longer with us.

We remember him well from a journay to Europe with Tanya, when they stayed with us here in Cologne for some days. We are so sorry for this loss and will go on remembering and missing Andrew.

May he rest in peace.
