In Celebration of

Andre Adams

March 28, 1937 -  July 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andre Denzil Adams on July 30, 2025.

Andre lived his life quietly but impactfully. Being an educator in his homeland Grenada West Indies, Andre emigrated to Canada to be with his love and fiancée Joan McIntrye. They married in Canada in 1965. He studied at University of Toronto before becoming an electrician for Canadian National Rail, Bombardier and Via Rail. He loved the railways and even more so the people he worked beside.

One of his most notable achievements was that Andre was a member of the Caribana committee. As a proud Grenadian, Andre believed in sharing his cultural heritage and diversity with others. He loved education, often supporting schools in Grenada with scholarships, equipment and books.

Andre loved languages. He composed poems and was often called to make speeches at special events such as Toronto’s 150th Jubilee at City Hall in 1984. He always said that one day he would make a play with his friend depicting the life of Grenadians.

Andre was known to many for his quick wit, love of music, ability to dance and his willingness to help those in need. In fact, after he retired, Andre continued to give back to the community often assisting people who were in the process of attaining their landing status in Canada.

Known to many as Papa toward the later part of his years, Andre was the patriarch of our family, pillar of the community, amazing father, loving grandfather, mindful brother, funny uncle, and loyal friend. He was many things to many people. After 88 years on this earth, Andre was called home.

He is survived by his 3 children Theron, Sharla and Danell Adams and two grandchildren Religia and Chance Adams.

Both the visitation and the funeral service will be at the Turner and Porter Directors Funeral Home Yorke Chapel 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto Ontario.

Visitation for Andre’s funeral will be on August 29th at from 4pm -8pm.

Andre’s funeral service will be on August 30th starting at 11:00 am.

Andre will be laid to rest following the service at Prospect Cemetery.

Deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one, who was a very nice person to know. May he rest in peace.
Andre and I shared some wonderful experiences while volunteering and attending exclusive events before, during, and after the Toronto 2015 PanAm and ParapanAm games, where we met and mingled with numerous athletes and dignateries.
I am so glad that our paths crossed in life and we were able to share some great, music, laughter, knowledge and interesting conversations during our period of friendship. I will now treasure those memories of him.
