In Celebration of

Amir Rastakhiz

August 15, 1953 -  February 16, 2022

Amir Homayoun Rastakhiz Arab was born in Tehran, Iran on August 15, 1953. Known by his friends as Homie he is survived by his children Dario and Fabian and his beautiful partner and wife Maria Del Mar of 43 years.
Homie was born with the heart and soul of an adventurer and a passion for animals.

He began travelling the world at the age of 17; those lucky enough to hear his legendary stories know his exploits span all the continents. He has left his mark in this world like not many others can claim.
He made his greatest find in Spain where the handsome young Homie met beautiful Maria. He claimed her as his greatest prize. Together, they became well respected and successful entrepreneurs in the thriving cities of Mallorca and Madrid. Running businesses that ranged from Caviar import export, nightclubs and restaurants their reputation for fairness and hard work was renowned.

Homie was able to hold his own and build his businesses from the ground up in very challenging atmospheres. Homie's commitment to honesty, fairness and being forthright became his hallmark and he thrived. With the birth of his boys he wanted to pursue a better life. He brought his young family to Toronto in 2001 where he instilled these same values and moral fiber into his sons.

Homie battled a vicious bout of liver disease on his arrival to Canada, an incredibly strong and stubborn man, he refused to heed the terminal diagnosis by doctors and surpassed the odds. He led a family focused life in Canada and spent his years completely devoted to his sons and ever faithful wife. Known for his extensive walks that took him into nature, it was not uncommon to see Homie petting wildlife and appreciating the world around him. Homie was loved by all who had the privilege of meeting him. He had incredible character and was always willing to take the shirt off his back if he knew it would help someone. He was known for his generosity and kindness. The world was truly better with him in it.

Homie was taken from us too soon after a brief and hard battle with liver cancer. This incredible man began his next adventure on February 16th at 11:11pm. He held the ever-present photo of his father as he left his world to the next. He will be missed.

Viewing will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel Sunday February 20th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
For those who wish to make a donation in Homie's honour, please consider donating to The Dorothy Ley Hospice through the "Donations" tab on this memorial page.

You should be so proud that you created and raised such a beautiful family with a bond that could never be broken. I am happy and honoured to have met a truly wonderful ( but stubborn) man. You will forever be remembered as you have left a part of you with your two boys. They are such wonderful and respectful young men who will take care of your wife for you just as you always have. You are a legacy Homie!

Your father had the best sense of humour the best advice always and was such a great sprint to have around . We are very sadden to hear this tragic news . I will always remember him wearing white and enjoying his cigar that he would love to smoke in his Benz ! Great smiles always and he loved making people laugh . I pray for you all & for you all to heal .
