In Celebration of

Alojzij (Louis) Dejak

September 30, 1927 -  December 9, 2023

On December 9th, 2023, in Toronto, Ontario, our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at the age of 96 at Dom Lipa Nursing Home with his family nearby.

He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Anica. He is lovingly remembered by children: Michael (Heidi), Frank (late Brenda) and Tom (Connie); grandchildren: Katie (Mylonas), Calvin, Rachel (Brown), Daniel, Michelle (Harvey), Tina (Pierce), Alicia (Clanahan), Tiffany (Winton) and Amanda, 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Alojzij was born in Ribnica, Slovenia (former Yugoslavia). After the end of WWII he experienced a harrowing struggle to escape from communist Yugoslavia to freedom. This eventually led him to Canada as a refugee where he welcomed the opportunity to start a new life. After a brief time in Saskatchewan, he moved to Toronto where he met future wife, Anica.

Alojzij, or Louis as he was better known, was exceptionally humble, honest, kind, and hard-working. He was always quick with a smile and a witty remark. He was a quiet hero and an example for his sons whom he supported in whatever endeavor they pursued.

Visitations will be held from 2-6pm on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at 10am at Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 739 Browns Line, Etobicoke. A reception with coffee and light refreshments will follow. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dom Lipa Nursing Home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Dom Lipa for their care and compassion.
