In Celebration of

Alojz Ermin Bedek

June 11, 1937 -  August 22, 2022

It is with much heartache that we announce the passing of our father (Tata) on Monday, August 22, 2022. He was a man whose hands and mind were magical. He passed away after a painful illness at Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 85.

He leaves behind his wife (Anna Betty) of 61 years, son (John) and daughter (Anna Mary), neighbors and other life time friends. He has now moved on to his next journey, to meet up with all those that have passed before him.

After marrying and starting a family, ALOJZ and Anna decide to buy a house in Etobicoke. Then some years later, became part owners to a “farm”. The family would travel up to Parry Sound where the “farm” was located. Nearly every long weekend was an event where he would do the rotisserie of a pig for all that was there. He became known as the “Master” of this particular cooking event. There was lot of joy, laughter and so fond memories. As we all know, time goes on and families goes and everyone goes their own way.

Alojz and Anna bought a piece of land in McKellar Township where they built a beautiful cottage which contains much of Tata’s handy work. He taught us how to learn how to appreciate with less things than with everything we have back in Toronto to enjoy life. He loved north and he could never get enough. He wanted us to appreciate what it had to offer.

He was man who loved to build structures, gardens, rock walls, etc. He was always building something and you would always find him outside no matter what time. His last project was 2018 - 35-foot double cedar fence at his home in Toronto.
He also had a passion for gardening and would even compete with his wife on who could grow the biggest potatoes or tomatoes. He also had a love for growing garlic, phlox and roses.

Later in life, he developed a passion for watching cooking shows where he would try to duplicate what he’d seen on the show. Some of the dishes were ok, some not so great. His specialties were mashed potatoes, rice and salads.

He will be missed greatly, but he is now on a new journey where there is no hard work, no pain and suffering. He leaves many memories behind whether in our hearts, pictures, structures, gardens, walls, etc, an imprint of him is there.

We love you and till we see you again....Mama, John and Ani.

Our deepest condolences to Anna and her family. I met Anna initially to help sell one of their FL properties that was still furnished from their years of visiting. You could see love and memories that were still there. God rest his soul

I grieve for the loss of Anna's father, who I learned from Anna was a man that took much pride in the beautiful home garden that he built. Even though I had never got the chance to meet him, I felt like we shared similarities - both a cooking show enthusiast, and being appreciative of the things we have.

Wishing all the fond memories of Tata will forever live in the hearts of Anna and the rest of the family and friends , lifting them up through the next chapter of life.

Special message to Anna: I'm proud of you. We are always here for you.
