In Celebration of
Alicia Sabina Starzynski
January 22, 1927 -
February 16, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing (February 16, 2020) of Alicia, daughter of Jozef Pedzierski and Amalia Sztykiel (Wilno, Poland). At the ‘young’ age of 93 years, Alicia is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Starzynski and survived by sister, Halina Tatarynowicz (Australia). Alicia will be forever missed by her loving children, Liz Malicki (Chris), Barbara Healey (Kyle), Michael, Alex, Veronica Patterson (Ian), dear grandmother to Adrianna Schamp (Brandon), Greg Malicki (Linda), Noelle Starzynski, Marcus Sheppard, Stephanie and Conor Patterson, beloved Babcia Ala to great-grandchildren Felix, Violet, Evan and Daniel.
A lover of life, true artist, passionate gardener, ardent advocate for family values, Alicia touched many people with her sense of humour, infectious positive attitude and compassion. Declaring herself to be a Polish patriot, she chronicled her interesting life in an autobiography which included her survival of the Warsaw Uprising during WWII. The ambition to maintain Polish culture in Toronto garnered Alicia official recognition for her work in Polish Language Instruction and the Polish Congress (Toronto). Forever elegant and dignified Alicia exclaimed, “Please do not cry, it’s time for me to leave, I need to make room for the younger generation”.
A heartfelt thank-you to Wawel Villa Seniors’ Home (Mississauga), the Acclaim Palliative Team, Ian Anderson Hospice for outstanding support.
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. Mississauga, (Hwy 10 N of QEW 905-279-7663) on Friday, February 21 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 22 from 2 - 4 p.m. (includes a Celebration of Life).
