In Celebration of

Alice Mary Barrett

February 2, 1939 -  November 23, 2021

Alice passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the age of 82 with her family at her side. Born in Streetsville on February 2nd 1939, the daughter of Charles and Sadie Harrison and sister to Terry, and the late Alphonse, Jim and George.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas (1996) for 36 years, loving mother of Richard (Simone), Roger (Hilda), and the late Thomas (2017). Cherished grandmother of Ami, Justin, and Ciall.
Alice loved horses and Elvis, but in the end fell in love with a tall dark and handsome hockey player and coach from a rambunctious family of six very competitive boys. She spent many a Tuesday evening pacing back and forth, at the arena, in the smoke-filled haze of the sole heated spectator mezzanine, too nervous to look at the score of Tom's team - the Streetsville Derbys.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Neweduk’ Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga), on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 2340 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 9 am. Interment will follow for family members at the Shelburne Cemetery.

For those attending the visitation or service, proof of full vaccination is required, along with photo ID to confirm identity. Masks are still mandatory and contact tracing information must still be provided.

So sorry to hear of Alice Mary’s passing. Although I didn’t know her well, her husband Tom along with my father George, Don Fletcher, Jon Clipperton, Stan Kalapaca; Bill Arch, Brian Anderson, Eric Ferguson and a few others started a Junior C hockey team in Streetsville, the Derbies. I remember the long hours they all worked make no the team a success. Tom was the coach and took the team to great heights. I would see Alice Mary at many functions along with all the other wives and partners. She was always lovely to me. A classy lady. Years later I ran into Roger while I was entertaining the troops in Cyprus and he was serving in the Royal Canadian Regiment. Godspeed..

I will miss her soft, sweet voice and her expression of love. She rarely called me Julie; she called me 'jewel', although I am sure it was just the J-U-L in Julie, but I took it to mean jewel because she was a light in my childhood. xo
Hope you all find comfort in knowing she loved you all so dearly and so sweetly. As I write these words, my memory reminds me that Auntie Alice had a mischievous and humorous side underneath that sweet, soft voice. That made me smile.
God love her and you all.

Very fond memories of Alice and her family. Her home was always welcoming and a warm refuge for me as a growing boy.
