Alfred John Brooks
December 1, 1929 -
December 8, 2025
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our father, Alfred John Brooks, who passed away at Credit Valley Hospital on December 8, 2025. He was 96 years old.
He was born on December 1, 1929 and spent his early years in Sussex, New Brunswick, and lived most of his life in Mississauga. He was married to wife Donna, and is survived by her sons Al (Serena), Ian (Lisa), and Grant (Carol), and granddaughters Elizabeth, Megan, Amanda, Danielle, Nicole, and grandsons Alfred and Gabriel.
Our father was a very kind and loving man who cherished his family and and time spent with good friends. He was a husband and lifelong best friend to wife Donna, who predeceased him in May. He was a father who set an example for his sons on how to live life with character and integrity.
His early life was very much defined by his east coast upbringing, attending Rothesay Collegiate in New Brunswick where he excelled. He attended UNB, and eventually moved on to graduate from McGill University with a degree in Medicine. He was gifted academically and very committed to the practice of medicine, specializing in Radiology and achieving many different medical degrees and accolades throughout his 50 year career. He worked for many years as the Chief of Radiology at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby and treating patients at his practice at in Toronto. He enjoyed his many years helping to raise his 3 boys on Gatehouse Drive in Mississauga and played a pivotal role in negotiating the transfer of the Rattray Marsh property to the Rattray Marsh Conservation Authority, ensuring the marsh’s continued preservation. He spent over 3 decades as a member of the Loraine Club, and loved the many trips he took to Georgian Bay and “The Fishing Camp” to spend time with his family and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings.
In more recent years he enjoyed their home in the country near Tottenham, Ontario, and time spent with his wife and the other residents and staff at their condo at Parkland on the Glen in Erin Mills.
Our father was a very present and loving husband and family patriarch, and had a positive impact on many people in his life. We will miss him deeply.
A private family service will be held on January 7 at the Turner and Porter Funeral Home in Erin Mills. You are invited to make a donation in Alfred’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. (Link below Make a Donation)
