Alfons "Al" Ursic

July 27, 1929 -  March 17, 2016

Passed away in the Veterans Wing of Sunnybrook Hospital on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the age of 86. Born in Yugoslavia in 1929, he came to Canada in 1963 with his wife Irena to make a better life in Toronto. Beloved husband to Irena for 62 years. Dear father of Kenneth Alan Ursic, father-in-law of Margot, and grandfather to Sasha and Oscar. Dear brother of the late Anjela, Franz and Oskar Ursic. He served in the Yugoslav Army during the Second World War, and after moving to Canada worked for more than 25 years as an auto body repairman. He continued to be active in his retirement, working part-time as an extra in movies and then caring for his wife as her Alzheimer's progressed. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Friends will be received at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 1 p.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3 p.m. Donations can be made to Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
