At the young age of 26, Alexander George Douglas passed away peacefully at Toronto General Hospital surrounded by family. Alex spent years fighting Leukemia, survived a stem cell transplant, and then fought lung damage from graft versus host disease until the very end. He fought bravely, but in the end, the damage was just too severe and Alex was so tired that it was time to say goodbye.
Alex is survived by his mom Kim and Father George, his Sister Amber, his Brother-in-law Mark and nephew Henry as well as his stepmother Tricia and stepbrothers Jacob & Ethan. Alex also leaves behind his wonderful girlfriend Amanda who stayed by his side until the end. Alex was always surrounded by tons of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who also loved him and cheered for him.
Alex was quite the character. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was the life of the party and lit up every room he walked into. There was never a dull moment with Alex, he always managed to find humour in every situation. Alex loved to party, to travel as much as he could and find an adventure around every corner. His bright spirit will be missed dearly. The party will never feel as joyous but we will continue to find happiness in his memory. He will never be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held for Alex at 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 5th, 2024 in the Mount Nemo golf club. The address is as follows: 5377 Walkers Line, Burlington, ON L7M 0P9. Due to Alex’s love for Hockey and all things sport-related, we ask that you wear your favourite sports team jersey in honour of Alex. Alex’s favourite team was the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In Lieu flowers we ask that you consider donating to the Stem Cell Research Centre at Juravinski Hospital.
