It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Nikolaev, who left us peacefully on January 11th, 2026 at the age of 79 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. Alex was born in summer of 1946 in Landshut, Germany and was the beloved spouse of Lena Nikolaev and devoted father to Alexandra and Anthony.

Alex was a man that enjoyed everything the world had to offer. He was a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology have been raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was a lifelong employee of Air Canada and raised his family in Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg and finally in Mississauga. He will be remembered for his hard work and commitment to the company. Alex happily enjoyed his retirement for many years and could often be found tinkering with cars restoring one after another. He also enjoyed travelling, taking the family to places all over the world. He loved and was loved by the family and had a special relationship with his grandson, Jason who lovingly referred to him as Papa.

Alex is survived by his wife, Lena, his daughter Alexandra and son, Anthony. He also leaves behind his son-in-law Jason and grandchildren Jason, Nick, Hailey and Jacob. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonid Nikolajew (2002) and Zoia Nikolajew (2012).
