<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015 at McCall Health Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario. Born in Bialystock, Poland on October 15, 1923 Aleksander was passionate about his family, friends and work. He is lovingly remembered and will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Irene (nee Aleksandrowicz), his son Wojciech Alexander, his daughter-in-law Deborah and 3 grandchildren Adam, Ashleigh and Andrew. Aleksander was one of the few remaining survivors of the WWII concentration camp, Stutthof. He married in 1950 and moved to Canada in 1951 where he ran a thriving business for more than 40 years. Upon retirement, he undertook a remarkable journey of self-reflection writing a book about his extraordinary life and the Nazi occupation. His book &ldquo;Wspomnienia i Zeszyty Szwedzkie&rdquo; was published in 2002 through the Stutthof Museum in Poland. Aleksander&rsquo;s other passion was the family cottage in Barry&rsquo;s Bay which was an integral part of his latter years where he felt at peace. Friends may call at the Turner &amp; Porter &ldquo;Peel&rdquo; Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, (Hwy 10 N. of QEW) on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11 a.m.</div>
