Alastair Hunter MacDonald passed away peacefully at approximately 9:45 a.m. on March 1st, at the age of 87, at Credit Valley Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
A proud and longtime resident of Streetsville, Alastair also carried deep pride in his strong Scottish heritage. That heritage was reflected in his values, his stories, and the quiet strength, loyalty, and resilience with which he lived his life.
Alastair was the devoted and loving husband of Marlene MacDonald, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He was a proud father to his son Iain MacDonald and daughter-in-law Tammy MacDonald, and to his daughter Catherine Hamilton and son-in-law Don Hamilton.
Nothing brought Alastair greater joy than his role as “Grandpa” and “Great-Grandpa.” He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Trevor (Megan), Shannon, Kalei (Justin), Finlay, Josh (Jillian), Julia, Jade, Jake, and Cali (Greg), as well as by his four great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness.
Alastair’s life was defined by his deep love for family, pride in his roots, and unwavering sense of home. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
