In Celebration of

Alannah Young

March 1, 1947 -  April 14, 2017

Passed away peacefully on April 14, 2017, surrounded by her husband and children.

Alannah will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lloyd, of 48 years, children Nicole (Edward), Danielle (Jason), Stephanie (Steve) her grandchildren, Liam, Claire (with their father David), Griffin, Hazel, Olive, Eleanor and Penny and the many who joined her extended family on her journey through life.

Alannah was an extraordinary woman, who loved her family, friends, travel and gardening. She touched the lives of many and made friends all over the world. Whether from near or far, Alannah was always quick with a warm smile, a corny joke, an ear for listening and a shoulder to lean on.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the exceptional staff at the THP Credit Valley Hospital Cancer Centre and Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and compassion. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House or Heart House Hospice.

The family will receive friends at the Turner and Porter Peel Chapel at 2180 Hurontario St. in Mississauga on Wednesday, April 19 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. A memorial service will be held at the same location on Thursday, April 20 at 3pm.

I met Alannah in Beijing when she was visiting Stephanie and Steve and was immediately struck by her warmth and humor and love of adventures. Even though I only met her that time, she stayed in touch and always reached out to me during hard times with great love and compassion. I'm so sorry her life was cut short, but so thankful she was surrounded by her beautiful family at the end.
