<div itemprop="description">Peacefully, after a short illness, on October 17, 2014, surrounded by family, at the age of 82. Devoted husband of 44 years to Joan. Proud step-father of Scott Bebenek (Cristina) and Kevin Bebenek (Denise). Fun-loving grandpa of Jessica, John, David, Anthony, Matthew, Sarah Grace, and the late Meagan. Brother of Steve and the late Jack. Alan began life in New Toronto. His family moved to Regina in 1945 where he attended high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, in Saskatoon. After holding various corporate accounting positions in Western Canada, Alan travelled and lived in New Zealand from 1964 through 1967 where he embarked upon his career in education at Kaikorai Valley High School in Dunedin. Upon returning to Canada, he married Joan, settled in Toronto and taught accounting and bookkeeping at Seneca College for the balance of his career. Alan will be remembered as a patient and gentle man, with a passion for baseball, jazz, and British comedy. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
