In Celebration of

Aiko Vicki Azuma

January 10, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Aiko Vicki Azuma (nee Oue) announces her peaceful passing on January 10, 2018 at the age of 95. She passed away at Credit Valley Hospital from complications due to cancer. Vicki will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years, Frederick Takeshi Azuma, her daughters Janie and Fumiko (Colin Pilmer), and her grandchildren Caileigh (Suraj Rammohan) and Naomi. She will fondly be remembered by her brother Takeshi Maekawa (Emiko), and niece Megumi in Japan. She is predeceased by her brother Shigeru. Vicki will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Sachi, and her niece and nephew Glenna (Britt Theurer) and Gerald (Joan). Born on September 16, 1922 in Vancouver B.C. to parents Hane and Shima (nee Maikawa) Oue. She spent her childhood in both Vancouver and Japan. Many will remember Vicki dancing elegantly across the floor with her husband, and others will remember all the wonderful delicious foods that she cooked. She was always ready to talk about the Blue Jays, the Raptors, and loved those slot machines! Her wonderful smile, caring and thoughtful nature will be missed by all, and her joyous spirit, kindness and generosity will be forever remembered. To celebrate mom’s love of colour and comfort, we are dressing in casual and colourful clothing. We invite you to do the same. In lieu of koden, donations can be made to the Sick Kids Foundation in her memory.

Dear Fred: My deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of Vicki. I have many good memories of us all going to many dances and get togethers at each others' homes. I will cherish them forever.

I will miss her very much, especially of our chit chats we enjoyed quite frequently over the phone. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sad time. Love: Kay
